From Stenrösets Camping, you have the perfect starting point for cycling excursions to one of Trollhättan’s most impressive areas. Along a bike-friendly route, you’ll reach the lock area and waterfalls after approximately 4.4 km. Here, dramatic nature, engineering, history, and beautiful walking paths come together in an experience suitable for the whole family.
See the waterfall release: A powerful nature experience
When the dam gates are opened, enormous volumes of water are released through the original riverbed – up to 300,000 litres per second.
The waterfall release is one of Trollhättan’s most popular attractions and an experience you can truly feel throughout your body.
Around the gorge, there are several excellent viewpoints, including from Kung Oscar’s Bridge, where you get very close to the rapids and enjoy a dramatic view of the rushing water.
The lock area
Trollhättan’s classic lock area showcases three generations of locks, from the 19th century, from 1844, and the current system dating from 1916. All set within a lush and scenic park environment.
Here you can, among other things:
Watch boats being locked up and down
Walk through Gamle Dal Park and follow the different lock levels in the landscape
Visit the cosy Slusscafé for a shrimp sandwich, coffee, and a small canal museum
Walking tips:
Choose the Lock Trail (approx. 7.5 km) for a longer walk, or Nils Ericson’s Walk (approx. 1.6 km) for a shorter route featuring history and beautiful views.
We are a family-owned campsite run by a father and daughter, with a strong focus on comfort and a welcoming sense of community. During the high season, guests can enjoy a swimming pool, live music evenings, and a traditional Midsummer celebration.
The campsite features a restaurant serving alcoholic beverages, mini golf, a jumping pillow, and many activities for children. It is conveniently located within cycling distance of the locks and waterfalls (4.4 km), close to the centre of Trollhättan (6 km), Hunneberg and Halleberg and the Moose Museum (18 km), as well as the Saab Car Museum (4.5 km).
