In northern Värmland, deep forests stretch on for miles. Here, you’ll enjoy hiking through magnificent nature along well-marked trails, combined with overnight stays in a cabin. As part of the experience, access to a wood-fired sauna and a canoe is included — all bundled into one complete package.

How does it work?
Day 1 – South
On your arrival day, plan to go hiking at Brattfallet. Walk the Halgå Trail and see traces of the last Ice Age. Check-in to your cabin at Klarälvens Camping between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Day 2 – East
Hike in the Fänstjärnsskogen Nature Reserve, home to forests that are 200–300 years old. A wood-fired sauna might be the perfect way to end the day.
Day 3 – North
Hike the Fämt Trail, featuring, among other highlights, a 60-metre-deep canyon. Take a swim below the Fämtfallet waterfall and enjoy spectacular scenery. End the day with a canoe trip on the Klarälven River.
Day 4 – West
Check out of the cabin no later than 11:00 AM. Hike in the Hovfjället Nature Reserve, offering beautiful views and ancient natural forests.
It’s easy to relax here and simply enjoy your time off. If you prefer a more active stay, there are plenty of fun and challenging adventures starting right from the campsite. Build your own timber raft and drift along the mighty Klarälven River, join our guide on a beaver safari during the bright summer evening, or go canoeing and stop at an island for a coffee break.

Build, sail, and dismantle a timber raft – all in one day. Expect an experience that combines full focus with a deep sense of calm.
The hiking trails vary quite a bit. Several of them are classified as demanding, but with a normal level of fitness and mobility, they are manageable. Most trails follow paths where some sections include rocks and tree roots, and many routes also involve elevation changes.
The easiest trails are in Fänstjärnsskogen and the short walking loop at Brattfallet.
Are there shelters and rest areas along the trails?
This varies by location. In Fänstjärnsskogen, there is a cabin that is open to everyone. At Brattfallet, there is a picnic area with several tables, and along the Halgå Trail there is a wind shelter.
On the trails at Hovfjället, there are often rest areas with tables, and on the Torprundan loop you pass a cottage that is open and also has an outdoor toilet.
At Fämtån, there are tables and a wind shelter below the waterfall at the start of the trail, but not along the trail itself.
Can we bring a dog on the hike?
You know your dog best and whether it enjoys and can manage a full day of hiking. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times during the hike.
There may be some restrictions regarding cabin accommodation at Klarälvens Camping, so please check at the time of booking whether a dog-friendly cabin is available.
Is hiking with children suitable?
Some of the trails are demanding and may be tiring, especially for younger children. However, there are several less demanding options where younger hikers can join and still enjoy an exciting nature experience.
